Evaluation staff Awards

My role

This is an evaluation of the things that i did that lead up to the student awards on the 11ths of December 2013 i will some up a few things that happened that night and the role me and my group played that night
I did group work and the people I worked with in the group were Tom Jian Alison and Hannah,
My role was shared with a class mate as we were filming for the student awards.
We arranged for the client to come in at 4:30pm in room 2SW10.We then showed the Head teacher and the client Nadeem the title sequence and then they gave us there opinion on what needed to be changed and what needed to be added in the title sequence.
On the night of the staff awards I was the camera man number 2 and I shared this role with Shqiponoja .we prepared for the night before we shot we did a practice run on how we was going to take turns on who would shoot the first hour of the staff/student awards, I did the first hour and a half then i let Shqiponoja do some of the camera work, i think we could have held the camera in a more comfortable position for both of us because it was straining on our arms at this caused our reactions to change the camera positions a bit slow and camera to be a bit shaky.

But overall i think i did a good job of reserving the battery on the camera as well as we didn't have enough battery in the beginning of the night we made due with the battery we had but just in case we had a spare battery in case the battery did run out on the night

Final idea for comic relief/JAMES

Final idea for comic relief 

We could do something similar to (a question of sorts and a league of their own) But it could involve all teachers from different departments P.E teachers, Media teachers, Art teachers, Drama teachers facing off against each other but instead of giving them the questions about their own subject mix up the questions and give them all different question to their opposite corner/subject to make it more difficult and the winner is crowned best department.

We could use the Theatre for the quiz night and it should be held after college around 5:30pm – 7:00pm that would be enough time to get a lot of questions out, we should also do a challenge where you can ask the audience on what the right answer could be almost like the TV show who wants to be a millionaire, to get the audience more involved with the action. Also we will need a some type of trophy instead of getting an actual trophy we could get a free voucher for one lunch anytime for the winner of the contest, we will need at least 5 vouchers as there will be 5 on each team representing there department.

Health issues – Raise awareness of mental health issues, disabilities, dyslexia  

Teachers quiz – all the teachers are tested on their knowledge of their opposite department  with a number of questions.

Spoof of music video – do a comedy video of a popular music video most people know in the college.

Spoof of Eastenders – imitate characters from Eastenders and re create a famous scene from Eastenders.

Charity sports – Different teachers from each department and a student of their choice egg and spoon race.

Tug and war – teacher’s vs. students in the gym.

Health issues/Charity pre recorded

To raise the awareness of different health issues for comic relief and maybe interview some people inside college or outside of college who are suffering from these types of situations and get them to speak on it and how it can change peoples life’s or how other people can help out instead of treating them different , you will need a room and maybe a background screen and if not wanting to be shown on the screen could blank out there face and just have the students voices instead of showing their face.

Spoof of a popular music video Pre recorded/live performance

Do a vote on which would be the best music video that everybody know and would be good entertainment to almost mock it but change up the lyrics and make it funny but it would have to be appropriate to comic relief and nothing that has any adultery or nothing inappropriate to the viewers, you could get the performing art students to feather in the music video as they act and sing ,we will need the theatre for them to perform deepening on the live performance or we could film some shots outside of the college to make it more entertaining .

 Here are just a few pictures that i have chosen to maybe do for my final project i am still picking and considering ideas for my final ideas the styles and the creativity.

The first picture is a portrait like of the character Dexter but this is a fan art draw portrait, i was thinking that I could recreate this using my self or other class members and use them as a model for the style and technique that is being used in this picture

Another technique I was thinking to use was to recreate this image of the apple with a face and a knife in its mouth for my final piece of my project but maybe change the fruit and change the facial expression of the apple, I was thinking to do more than one facial expression maybe four and then take pictures of all four facial expression and put them together to make an almost mood board of the apples face  

 This was another idea i found interesting my model would have been a girl and to recreate this picture , i would have changed the panda to and used different animals , maybe a crocodile using different shades of lipstick of green to give it the jungle and almost real look of a crocodile but still making it simple just like we see in the picture now

This is another idea i feel i can recreate as we see in the picture its a broccoli tree but has been turned into a miniature tree house ,added with little bits of wood , i feel that it would be good to maybe copy the exact idea but maybe do at least three stages of the broccoli imitating a real life tree with the leaves falling off, to make it look like the climate is changing and the tree is getting older, i could take four pictures of the broccoli changing representing the four seasons winter summer autumn spring.

This would be my final idea of what i could do for my final project with food again recreating a palm tree with food but instead of using vegetables replace it with fruit instead, but i would change the fruits and make some creative and unique with the different type fruit , i would use at least 5 different types of fruit to get more colors in and give it a really tropical affect.

Interesting framing pictures

 This picture framing is interesting because of the light that is being used and at the angle that its being taken at , the photographer took it at night time on the side of the road focusing on Parliament but also getting a blurred lighting of a bus going by using light technique to make it visible.

This is another interesting picture framing because the colour contrast really stands out ,the sheep's are blue in a green field which makes up most of the colour and kind of gives it a earth type of look about it, you can tell its taken at an angle where the photographer is standing up in almost in a overhead shot of the field and the sheep.

This picture framing is also good because its a close up of a man showing his muscles with people in the background ,but the thing that stands out is the technique that is being used ,the photographer focus on the man and his body frame but also blurs out the background and the burled background brings out the color in the photo being taken

large depth of field

The large depth of field is a larger scale , it focus on things in front of the camera and expands the picture making a bigger landscape depending of the type of picture you take. the aperture has to be high depending on what your taking the picture of and the environment ,the Manuel focus on auto isn't that important as the camera can focus its self when taking the picture but still may be useful when taking pictures to do so yourself

Depth of field and shallow

This technique  being used is to focus on the main subject that is in front of the camera as the background is blurred out to make the main subject stand out ,This lets us see the subject more clearer and gives it a special effect. 








To get this technique right the Aperture needs to be low and the manual focus needs to be switched on, to give you option for you to see how much blur you need in the background for the focus on the main subject.

Panning sues

This a panning shot ,it is a shot which tracks a moving image in movement, blurring out the background and  keeping the object in focus.


You can create a panning shot by using manual focus but you have to lower the shutter speed (e.g.) The idea is that you manually focus on the moving subject/object, and pan the camera in the direction it's moving in-the shutter speed creating a blurred and out of focus background.

Rule of thirds

The rule of thirds is based on the conventions of framing a picture by thirds. The Grid lines that are used to set the proportions of three horizontally and three vertically pictures  making nine squares for the picture to be structured .


When capturing landscape shots, you have to know what part of the image you want most to be  prominent.

If you want to capture the land more than the sky, the horizon should be composed around the upper third of the picture

How to set up the camera 

First you have to  Adjust the mode dial to TV, AV or M.
Then you Press the AF button

Next what should come up on the screen should be the manual selection.

Shadow portraits are mainly used for men and women in the fashion industry; it helps to bring out facial features and creates a more masculine also feminine look depending on how it was taken,  In this lighting technique the reflectors do not need to be used as it is important to create the contrast in lightness and darkness.
